In a cynical and manipulative last minute maneuver the U.S. has submitted 8 anti-Cuban resolutions that will now have to be debated today in the UN General Assembly before the vote on the blockade will be taken tomorrow, November 1.
The U.S. knows full well that the unilateral blockade of Cuba, that has caused billions of dollars of damage to Cuba’s economy, is rejected by the nations of the world. This fake action by the U.S. government is to create a platform to bash Cuba and manipulate the debate.
In a press conference this morning Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez stated that, “the United States government, in its desire to create greater tensions and increase hostility, is posing obstacles to the forthcoming vote against the blockade in the UN and thus disguise the massive, flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of all the Cuban people that the blockade represents.”
Cuba is confident that when the vote does take place this malicious hypocritical stunt will fail and like in the past 26 years the vast majority of countries will stand with Cuba and say a resounding NO to the blockade.
In the next 24 hours we urge all the solidarity activists and friends of Cuba in the United States and around the world to join the twitter campaign, called by the National Network on Cuba (NNOC), using the following hashtags: #SomosCuba, #NoMasBloqueo and #UnblockCuba
