All Our Honor and Praise to Those Who Carried out the Revolution As We Congratulate the New Leadership of Cuba

On this historic day, which marked the first defeat of U.S. imperialism in Latin America, when in just 72 hours Cuba repelled the mercenary invasion at Playa Girón, we salute with deep emotion and gratitude the historic leadership of the Revolution under the leadership of Fidel and Raúl who filled the Cuban nation with respect, honor and dignity.

They were able to achieve the most remarkable defeat of the most powerful country on earth, just 90 miles away; instilling pride in the Cuban people and all of those in Latin America and the world who feel the Revolution like it was ours.

They did it with enormous courage, humility, love and infinite sacrifices to build a free, sovereign and socialist homeland of the humble and for the humble.

Today, with the satisfaction of having given everything for the independence and rights of the Cuban people and having written memorable pages in the history of international solidarity among the people of the world, they pass on the baton to the next generation that have in them the highest example of heroism and human dignity.

In an exemplary election, the newly constituted National Assembly of People’s Power, supreme organ of true representation of the people, Miguel Díaz-Canel was designated as President and Salvador Mesa as First Vice President of Cuba.

Díaz-Canel was part of the battle for the return of the Cuban Five patriots. He along with Salvador Mesa were familiar faces at the International Solidarity Meeting held by the Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC) every May 2 and we have witnessed their dedication to the principles of honesty, sincerity and hard work.

With the new leadership of Cuba we renew our commitment through international solidarity to continue fighting every day for the end of the genocidal blockade and the unconditional defense of the sovereignty of Cuba.

In these difficult times for the people of Latin America and other countries including Syria and Palestine we send all our support to the new Cuban leadership.

Long Live Socialist Cuba!

Long Live the Revolution!
